The first Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels broke a decade-long deadlock and opened a new political space dedicated to confronting fossil fuel extraction and production.
The fight has moved forward. The question facing governments is no longer whether fossil fuels must be phased out, but how? The question for social movements is whether we can push governments to build the cooperation, planning and finance needed for a fossil-free future.
In 2027, the second conference of this historic multilateral process will meet in the Pacific. We have a real opportunity to secure a mandate to launch negotiations on a Fossil Fuel Treaty. But winning that negotiating mandate will take a global movement that is organised and united. We need to become impossible to ignore.
That’s why the campaign for a Fossil Fuel Treaty is bringing allies and supporters together through a new series of Global Assemblies. Together, we’ll strengthen our global coalition, align our demands and build the pressure needed to make 2027 a decisive moment for the push to negotiate a Fossil Fuel Treaty.
Join us. Help make 2027 the year we initiate Treaty negotiations.
