A clear description of the goals of the ANBI

Stichting Global Energy Transition Initiative works to advance climate change mitigation, environmental sustainability, and a just global transition to clean energy systems.

Our goal is to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and support sustainable, transparent, and accountable energy systems. We do this through grantmaking, research, public-interest policy analysis, convening, and support for collaboration between civil society, experts, governments, and other climate and energy transition actors.
The Foundation supports activities that:

  • reduce fossil fuel production and dependence;

  • improve access to data, research, and analysis for decision-making;

  • strengthen organisations working on climate and energy transition;

  • support collaboration across governments, civil society, and experts;

  • increase transparency and accountability in energy systems and financial flows;

  • contribute to a just and equitable transition to clean energy.

The Foundation may engage with international climate and energy policy processes, including UNFCCC processes, Conferences of the Parties, and related multilateral forums, where this supports its public-benefit objectives.

Stichting Global Energy Transition Initiative operates exclusively in the public interest. It does not pursue profit, and all income is used to support its mission and objectives.

The main ideas from the strategic plan

The Foundation focuses on accelerating the global transition away from fossil fuels and supporting the development of sustainable energy systems. Its approach combines funding, research, and convening to influence policy, improve transparency, and strengthen coordination across key actors in the energy transition. The Foundation prioritises:

  • supporting efforts that reduce fossil fuel production and dependence

  • improving access to data, research, and analysis that inform decision-making

  • enabling collaboration between governments, civil society, and experts

  • strengthening organisations working on climate and energy transition

  • increasing accountability in energy systems and financial flows

The Foundation may undertake or support research, policy analysis, workshops, and participation in international and multilateral climate processes and energy transition forums, including UNFCCC processes such as COP30, the Bonn Climate Change Conference, and London Climate Action Week meetings.

The Foundation operates globally and works with partners across regions. It focuses on areas where philanthropic support can unlock systemic change and accelerate impact.

The Foundation operates exclusively in the public interest. It does not pursue profit, and all income is used to support its objectives. At least 90% of its activities serve the public benefit, in line with ANBI requirements.

The remuneration policy for board members

The Foundation’s remuneration policy follows a market-based remuneration policy. This means that it is in line with that of comparable non-profit organisations. Staff salaries range between €50,000 and €200,000, depending on role, experience, and responsibility. Board members with policy-making responsibilities will not be remunerated for such duties, but may be reimbursed for reasonable out-of-pocket expenses and non-excessive attendance fees. Executive board members may also be employed by the Foundation under a contract, in which case their remuneration is determined by the Board.
