The Hub Live at Climate Week NYC 2026

In conversation: It’s now or never: can we kick our fossil fuel addiction?

The recent fossil fuel rollercoaster has proven Oil and Gas are structurally unreliable. Political leaders, corporate decision makers, and the public at the petrol station now know that real energy security no longer comes in a barrel. Moving from rhetoric to action is no small task, but as geopolitical and economic winds begin to shift, the willingness to step away from fossil fuels is gathering real momentum. The question is how we can turn this moment into a definite turning point, and what bold steps we need to take to kick the world’s fossil fuel habit.

Speaker: Dr. Maina Vakafua Talia, Minister for Home Affairs, Climate Change, and Environment, Tuvalu
